Heat Sink for CPU

Lorem ipsum dolor siteho amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed dotie eiusmod tempor et dolore.

Overview

Heat sinks use either copper, aluminum, or a combination of the two in order to transfer heat from the base of the cooler through heat pipes to the heat sink with the purpose to effectively keep the CPU within safe operating temperatures.

A CPU cooler consists of its heat sink, heat pipes, and base. In addition there is the heat plate on the CPU and the thermal paste in between the CPU and the CPU cooler. A base (usually copper, but aluminum on lower cost units) connects directly to the heat plate on the top of a CPU. The heat then gets transferred from the CPU heat plate through the thermal paste, which is used to ensure any gaps between the CPU heat plate and the CPU cooler base are filled. The base then connects to heatpipes in the CPU cooler. The base and heat pipes typically contain copper, as copper’s thermal conductivity is very high.
