OC Sustainability Policy
ORIENTAL COPPER CO.,LTD. (OC) fully recognizes the importance of sustainability in developing and strengthening our mission, therefore, the company has revised the policy of sustainable business development in harmony with environmental, social dimensions, and governance, referred as ESG, by including key issues related to sustainability throughout the supply chain into it. This new policy is currently used as good practice for business operation and to help reduce risks of the organization and the emerging risks of the company.
Our ESG strategy reflects OC’s belief that corporate responsibility drives long-term value not just in our business, but also for OC’s stakeholders, including clients, shareholders, employees and the societies in which we operate. We recognize that all firms and individuals have an important role to play in reducing negative environmental impacts and specifically tackling climate change. We aim to follow and to promote good sustainability practice, to reduce the environmental impacts of all our activities and to help our clients and partners to do the same. Our business practices are designed to create value in both the short and long term, maximizing positive impacts and minimizing eventual negative impacts on society and the environment throughout all our value chain through ethical and transparent conduct.
OC understands that sustainability must be integrated in all the Company’s businesses and organizational levels, ensuring availability of needed resources, considering the perspective of its stakeholders.
In pursuance of and in accordance with the Corporate Governance Policy of the Company, the Board of Directors has adopted the Corporate Social Responsibility Policies as follows:
- Integrating sustainability considerations into all our business decisions together with promoting the practices of in-process CSR along OC’s business processes with a focus on the Copper Products with good quality, reliability, and the conduct of efficient environmental operations and management.
- Conducting the organizational management based on good corporate governance, good moral and ethical responsibilities, to comply with, and exceed where practicable, the laws, all applicable legislation, government regulations and codes of practice and with respect for and response to the interests of stakeholders in all sectors, while placing emphasis on the efficiency and sustainable growth and sustainable growth of core and related businesses.
- Giving importance to the respect of human rights, labor practices, and fair operating practices.
- Being a caring organization for society and communities, particularly the communities living around facilities and the adoption of approaches focusing on the interests, needs and expectations of community members
Key success factors of achieving Sustainability Management
We will ensure to deliver our objectives through the following measures:
- Embedding sustainability principles and practices into the day-to-day management of the company
- Setting objectives and targets relevant to our organization and its sustainability priorities that will drive innovation, best practice and knowledge sharing
- Ensuring our staff members understand this policy and its objectives and are encouraged to be roll model of sustainability across the organization
- Procuring goods and services sustainably with an emphasis on supplier diversity, fair employment and environmental attributes, as well as other social and ethical criteria as appropriate and applied to our value chain
- The OC’s Board of Directors is responsible for establishing the overall sustainability policy for the organization and accountable for delivering sustainability performance and will ensure that adequate resources are engaged to deliver against this policy. They fully support the policy and provide effective leadership within their business areas. All staff members are responsible for following the policy with the support, direction and commitment of our leaders.
